About Shaily's Rasoi
Shaily's Rasoi is a small, family-run vegetarian chai stall and snack kitchen in the Loop. It was started by a husband-and-wife team who missed the everyday roadside chai stalls of India, where tea is brewed on the stove with whole spices rather than steeped from a bag. Everything on the menu is 100% vegetarian and made to order in an open kitchen.
What to order
- Masala chai: the reason the place exists. Start here.
- Chaat: pani puri, bhel, sev puri and ragda pattice, assembled to order
- Vada pav and dabeli: Mumbai and Gujarati street-food sandwiches
- Pav bhaji and parathas for something more filling
- Upma with chai in the mornings (until 2 pm)
Good to know
- The menu is small and the specials change daily, and they often sell out by the afternoon.
- It also runs a home-style tiffin service for offices and residents; order a day ahead.
- Also serves filter coffee, mango lassi and cold cocoa.
- There's a drive-through, which is rare in the Loop.
